All About Me

So, yeah...

Jess started RPing about >COUGH< years ago with tabletop dice games like D&D and Rifts. Her freeform RPing started in AOL (v.2.5 anyone? anyone? what do you mean it's obsolete?) chatrooms. From there, she was recruited into email based RPing, mostly either fantasy or Star Trek based. As the email scene slowly started to die out, people began making the move to Yahoo! Clubs. Yahoo! didn't like the Clubs format and changed it over to Groups. By then, most roleplayers had started migrating to either LiveJournal or some other group blogging/journal type thingy for roleplaying, or had gone and created entire forums for their games. She's tried her hand at running a few. She enjoys the freedom of creativity for mod-ship, but not the work involved and the dramuhz between players.

Good luck catching her signed into any messaging program that's not AIM at this point in time. Laggy computer lags. She is currently saving to buy a new one.

She works full-time in a temp position doing web design for an ad agency. She has a 45min to hour long commute one-way. She also works as an inspector for her local board of elections. She's the person that signs you in and helps you vote every year. Be nice to her. She doesn't want to hear complaints about the voting system. She used to work in tech support. If she's in a good mood, she might help you try to fix your computer. Most likely, she won't because she tried to get out of that position for three years. She also has experience with graphics. She might help you with your website, journal layouts, profile layouts, and icons if you ask nicely. The helpful side is usually the norm. She doesn't bite unless she's tired and cranky (or unless you want her to).

She drives a fifteen year old two door sports sedan... it's tan and needs work. She also has a small 600cc fifteen year old motorcycle. It's purple and white... and it also needs work.

She likes to con hop. She's been doing more of that lately. The same for cosplaying. If you're going to a con, ask her. She might be going, too, or might end up going because you suggested it. She is also a department coordinator at a very large northwestern con. This is strange because she lives on the east coast. It's easier not to ask how this happened.

She likes to perform on stage. This includes acting, singing, and dancing. Every summer, she auditions for at least one musical. There may be other auditions, rehearsals, and performances throughout the year. If you live near her, she will try to convince you to come to the show. At the same time, she hates wearing make-up, taking more than ten minutes to do her hair, using hair styling products, and wearing anything that is remotely uncomfortable. She will when required for shows or formal events or cosplay or her job... beyond that, it's jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt.

She has a cat. Oliver will interrupt her at inopportune moments, occasionally walking on the keyboard of her laptop or demanding cuddles/food/playtime that will pull her AFK for several minutes or more at a time. Her mother's cat may do the same, but much less frequently.

She lives with her parents. This will frustrate her a lot. If it comes up in topic, run away or she will vent at you. She is hoping to get a solid enough job with a good enough salary to move out... SOON. She is too old to be living in her childhood bedroom...

She will complain about her weight, her relationship status, her job, her car, and just about anything else if given the chance. It is recommended to avoid these topics and stick to fandom and fun activities like cons, games, and hobbies. Serious real-world discussions like politics, religion and finances often cause disagreements as she usually argues the unpopular opinion in the crowd, sometimes just to play devil's advocate with you. She will then get upset when no one listens. You have been warned.

PS - This has all been written tongue-in-cheek. Some of it's true, some of it's exaggerated. Have fun figuring out what's what. ^_^

Hi! Just leaving you a comment since you aren't online to tell you that I tweaked your hackers a bit... The "genius" qualification is really intended for characters who are canonically considered prodigies, characters who were inventing their own fields of scientific study at the age of 8. It's not intended for characters who could learn how to do something if they applied themselves and took classes for 2 or more years.

So Duo and Kitty don't really fall under this category. (Older!Kitty doesn't either.) I'm not sure about MOMO or Tieria, but from what little I know of their respective canons, I thiiiink they qualify? I removed those symbols, and hopefully clarified the text for the genius qualification.

Thanks!

Hm. Not sure, now. They're not human, so I don't know if they could be considered prodigies in that respect. However, they can learn fast and on their own. Like... as in not taking classes. For instance, if someone said, "Hey, have you ever done this really technical thing that normally requires a college degree?" and they haven't, they can pick it up uncommonly easily... like within a few days or so, they'd be at an intermediate level (functional with the task, but not expert). If that qualifies to be equal to an 8-year-old human rocket scientist, then... yeah, I'd say the whole 'genius prodigy' thing would apply. Otherwise, not really sure where those would equal out.

As for Duo, he's got really weird luck and learns fast. Maybe not genius, but he's never been to school for a sizable length of time (as in never having finished an entire year), yet the boy the can hack and pilot a mobile suit. He could drive a truck at 8 years old in canon (and did when he stole a mobile suit from a military base). Don't know what that counts as.

That sounds about right. I had that impression of both of them.

But having weird luck and being a good learner isn't, unfortunately, prodigy-level anything. Most of the people who have that down literally did incredible things no one else has ever been able to do and are canonically regarded as the most intelligent people ever to walk the planet in their respective canons -- Jade and Naoya and Q are so far beyond the norm that literally no one can come even close to matching them. Duo is smart, sure, but not a prodigy. Lelouch is canonically considered way more intelligent than Duo, I'd say, but I didn't put him down for it either: he's very, very smart, but there are people in his canon who are smarter than him.

There's a reason why everything says "CANON" ability, NOT "headcanon" ability, or "hypothetical" ability. ONLY canon skills count for hacking, I'm afraid -- it's in the game's FAQ.

Well, no one's a Q but a Q. If only someone like him counts as a genius, then, yeah... the bar's pretty high. I can't say much on Lelouch, and comparing different types of intelligence isn't going to get anywhere. I was going on canon events to figure out where Duo's intelligence level might be since his lack of formal schooling makes that hard to judge. Not many kids can do what he's pulled off, and I'd say he's probably smarter than me. Then again, most of my muses are. Haha. But, ah well. *shrugs*
